Paradise Lost - Lost Paradise

Essential. The beginning of death/doom metal in the early 90s, along with Peaceville labelmates Anathema and My Dying Bride. Shame that they didn't keep with this style.

Reculsa - The Anticonscience (2011)

Reclusa mix of a whole lot of stuff to surprisingly great effect, including death/doom, industrial, ambient and noise. I liked this description from the Crucial Blast website: "It's like a doomdeath album being played at half speed while someone splices in Throbbing Gristle and Wolf Eyes". Its difficult to draw reference points but if you like diSEMBOWELMENT, Godflesh, Gnaw Their Tongues or the aforementioned Wolf Eyes then you should enjoy this. An incredibly heavy and original album, check it out.

Loss - Despond (2011)

Loss' first full length release. Here is one band that does the funeral doom thing right, and are definitely one of the best within the style along with Mournful Congregation, Skepticism and of course Worship. Another soundtrack to your suicide brought to you by the Lair of Depravity.

Blessed Offal - Blessed Offal (2011)

Crushingly heavy doom-laden death metal in the veins of Autopsy and Incantation. So good.

Ilsa - Tutti il Colori del Buio (2010)

Heavy sludge/death doom with touches of crust from the US. For fans of Coffins, Hooded Menace (who they just released a split with), Corrupted, etc. Highly recommended, this album kicked my arse hard when I first heard it.
