Voyvoda is a balkan band playing a mix of martial industrial, electronic and synthpop. For me, there really couldn't be a more perfect mixture of sounds. Brilliant and highly recommended.

Old One - s/t

Here's some traditionally tinged doom with a few modern tweaks by a two-piece (drums, bass) from the US. Great fuzzed-out trad-doom riffs and some grooving bass solos. So grab a beer, sit back, relax, light one up, and enjoy the fuzz.

Siamese Twins - Demo (2011)

Here is a new band playing catchy post-punk with a gothic feel akin to The Cure. There is a shoegaze edge to the sound as well. One of the best demos I've heard this year, give it a listen.

Alrakis - Omega Cen

This is awesome. Atmospheric, ambient black metal dedicated to space, constellations and galaxies. Whoa. How could this not be incredible? Obviously for fans of Darkspace but I actually think this may be better.

Preterite - Pillar of Winds (2011)

Preterite is a collaboration between Geneviève Beaulieu (Menace Ruine) and James Hamilton. Expect nothing like Menace Ruine however, as this project is a mix of folk and psychadelic drone with Geneviève's unique voice being the clear centrepiece. Released on Handmade Birds, which seems to be a great label that is putting out some quality releases at the moment.

Alaric is a deathrock band featuring members from UK Subs, Drain the Sky, The Enemies, Noothgrush and Dead and Gone. If you like this then you should also check out Funeral Parade, their demo is some more great gloomy punk, deathrock, post-punk type stuff - think of Rudimentary Peni, early Christian Death, etc.
