Monarque - Ad Nauseam
Decided that the blog should be revived, and here is some excellent Canadian black metal that I've been listening to a lot lately. Canada is producing some quality black metal bands of late, and this is no exception. Monarque is a one-man project, formed in 2003 with a few releases including some live recordings.

Disma - Towards the Megalith (2011)
A huge and dark death metal monster featuring the untouchable vocals of Craig Pillard (Incantation, Disciples of Mockery, Evoken, etc) as well as members and ex-members of Methadrone, Incantation, Funebrarum and Assuck. To be honest, their demo was one of the best death metal demos I've ever heard and this will probably be one of the best, if not the best death metal release of the year.Download

Canadian death/black mayhem. Here is their latest EP and its fucking incredible. This one leans much closer towards death metal than previous efforts, which had a lot of the bestial BM elements as well. Züül - Out of Time (2010)
This was released last year?! Its just like the fuckin' glory days of heavy metal man - Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Manilla Road, Saxon and all of your other classic bands. Real heavy metal seems to be making a bit of a comeback these days but I'm not complaining, time to grab those old ripped jeans, Slayer tshirt and leather jacket out of the wardrobe and rock out to some awesome tunes. This one has some killer artwork too. True heavy metal lives!Download
