Boonhorse - S/T
Boonhorse are a stoner rock/sludge/doom band from Canberra, Australia. Formerly of the band LOG, who I saw for the first time way back in 2003 at an awesome metal festival called Metal for the Brain, which was held in Canberra for 15 years although sadly no longer running. These guys know how to write some groovy riffs, and some songs even feature harmonica, so how can you go wrong?!Monday, October 31, 2011
Mournful Congregation - The Book of Kings (2011)
Nothing should really need to be said about this. Well, its the new Mournful Congregation, who are of course one of the best funeral doom bands to ever exist and never deliver anything short of incredible.

Thirteen Bats - Dust (2010)
Thirteen Bats (now known as Bat Nouveau which is a better name imo) are a deathrock/gothic rock band from Brisbane, Australia. Everything that is great about gothic music can be heard here - the melodrama as well as the dark and brooding sound. The band takes influence from (obviously) Christian Death and post-punk like Joy Division.Download

Bluetile Lounge - Lowercase
Man, I fucking love Codeine (the band) and I instantly loved Bluetile Lounge for the same reasons that I love Codeine. This is music for sitting in your room and crying because all you have in your pathetic life is listening to music, watching porn, masturbating and writing on a stupid fucking blog about how Codeine is the greatest band ever. Ummmm. Anyway, Bluetile Lounge were a 90s slowcore band (how'd you guess?) from Perth, Australia. I never thought a good slowcore band would have come from my home country but this excellent, obscure little gem has thankfully proven me wrong.Download

Misery's Omen

This gem of an EP features members from Mournful Congregation, Stargazer and Cauldron Black Ram. This is their best material I think - their LP from 2008 is also good but doesn't compare to this. By far one of my favourite Australian metal releases ever. Comparable to the deranged early work of Bethlehem. Brilliant.

Profit Ain't Punk (or is it?)
Allow me to present to you one of the bands that started my love of all things fast in music. Fallout. I am aware there've been quite a few bands of that name over the years, but the one I refer to was an early to late 1990's Melbourne hardcore band. Arguably one of the best, these guys were around the same time as Mindsnare, but not quite as long as them. Certainly not long enough for me to see them play, anyway.
What I have for you today is a poor quality rip of a rip. From 10" vinyl onto CD and finally into 128kb .wma files. But it's not as bad as it sounds. I strongly recommend this band to anyone and everyone who is into punk, hardcore, even grind (of all sorts), and I hope to bring you more of their stuff in future.
Also, a big thanks goes to Kieren Tyrell, former Fallout vocalist, for granting permission for me to post their stuff on here.
