Preterite - Pillar of Winds (2011)
Preterite is a collaboration between Geneviève Beaulieu (Menace Ruine) and James Hamilton. Expect nothing like Menace Ruine however, as this project is a mix of folk and psychadelic drone with Geneviève's unique voice being the clear centrepiece. Released on Handmade Birds, which seems to be a great label that is putting out some quality releases at the moment.

Interment - Into The Crypts Of Blasphemy (2010)
There are so many bands nowadays ripping off the Entombed - Left Hand Path formula, but who can complain when its easily one of the best death metal albums of all time?! Here is another fine example, Interment deliver death metal old school swedish style, which is the best way! So if you don't like it, stop complaining poser and go back to your lifeless, boring, technical garbage! Hail old school Swedish death metal!

Alaric - S/T 7" (2010)
Alaric is a deathrock band featuring members from UK Subs, Drain the Sky, The Enemies, Noothgrush and Dead and Gone. If you like this then you should also check out Funeral Parade, their demo is some more great gloomy punk, deathrock, post-punk type stuff - think of Rudimentary Peni, early Christian Death, etc.
Antediluvian - Through The Cervix Of Hawaah (2011)
Well, here it is. I said this would be the metal release of the year and I'm here to say it does live up to those expectations. Do not waste any more time, get this now.

War All The Time - s/t
Saw these lads back in 2008 when they toured down here. The play very straight-up D-beat, and even feature a former member of Doom.
For anyone who likes Wolpack, Doom, Discharge, or any other D-beat bands.

Reculsa - The Anticonscience (2011)
Reclusa mix of a whole lot of stuff to surprisingly great effect, including death/doom, industrial, ambient and noise. I liked this description from the Crucial Blast website: "It's like a doomdeath album being played at half speed while someone splices in Throbbing Gristle and Wolf Eyes". Its difficult to draw reference points but if you like diSEMBOWELMENT, Godflesh, Gnaw Their Tongues or the aforementioned Wolf Eyes then you should enjoy this. An incredibly heavy and original album, check it out.

Winters in Osaka - Ruins/Manifest
Wait, what? Yes, I was finally able upload something so I can post again. Sadly, my current net connection is bad, so don't expect anything again in a while.
For now, though, I present you with two morsels from Winters In Osaka. I would love to tell you a lot about them, but, alas, I don't know much, other than it is a one person noise project. These two 'albums' are both on the one disc, but I have separated them, as each represents a slightly different aesthetic. Each is the result of a mail collaboration between WIO and a series of other individuals.
From their Last.FM page:
-harsh, needlestorm electronics subscribe more to the “scour the meninges off yr brain” variety of physical impact.
-Like a 3 am televangelist, Winters in Osaka have the pow-AH.
-thick whirring buzzscape
-noisy party with few friends around, and burly tinnitus
- be warned, this is some seriously noisy shit!
-Winter’s in Osaka leave on a pinnacle, almost orgasmic, point that you would have never thought possible.
For fans of Prurient & Wolf Eyes, as well as other experimental ambient/noise/avant-garde projects.

Maria Zerfall - Totenstille, Der Rest Ist Fluch
Christine Weyrether has been creating industrial and experimental sounds since 1985, releasing a bunch of cult and hard to find tapes and compilations. Lo-fi noise loops, guitars, and all kinds of other stuff combined with Christine's spoken word vocals over the top, this is experimental in every sense of the word. Cold and depressed and early heavy industrial inspired. While listening comparisons can be drawn to early Throbbing Gristle, SPK or Nurse With Wound.

Boonhorse - S/T
Boonhorse are a stoner rock/sludge/doom band from Canberra, Australia. Formerly of the band LOG, who I saw for the first time way back in 2003 at an awesome metal festival called Metal for the Brain, which was held in Canberra for 15 years although sadly no longer running. These guys know how to write some groovy riffs, and some songs even feature harmonica, so how can you go wrong?!
