Sedativ - 2002-2003
Some more great stuff from Russia. I'm going to try to post all of the good Russian stuff I find on here as a lot of it is hard to track down (especially if you don't know Russian).
In a way, this reminds me a lot of the whole ambient/post-rock/post-punk black metal type stuff that has been getting popular for a while, except I like this more. There is no black metal here, but the general bleakness brings it to mind for me. Its creator; Roman Sidorov, describes it as "psychedelic suicidal post-punk", which should give a good indication on what it sounds like. Apparently there was only one copy of this album, which was found after Roman's suicide in September 2003. Beautiful album, highly recommended.

One of my all-time favorites! Thanks for putting this one up (it beats the hell out of scouring Russian blogs for a link that actually works). I think the "post-punk BM" comparison fails to do it justice. Roman Sidorov was really on some next level shit with creating a great slow-paced, emotionally dense, alien atmosphere. Do you have any of his other projects (Fatal, Der Golem, Misery)? The only other consistent and easy-to-access place I've seen them is the "Zmet" album on Cosmic Hearse.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work!
No problems, I also really enjoy it and have heard from others that they also really love this one.
ReplyDeleteI do have a couple of Der Golem albums that I can put up. I've got no Fatal or Misery but I'll have a hunt for them and put them up if I'm sucessful.
Thanks.
Misery is not Roman's project at all, but the album "Дисциплина взорванных мостов" by Der Golem was released as a split with Misery "Перья навьих птиц".
DeleteI've got Fatal album. If you want, I'll share it with you.
ReplyDeleteAlso, you must listen to Staruha Mha, the main project of Roman.
